For the boards, Anki is the default for a reason, and the reason is not the app. It is the community decks: comprehensive, continuously maintained by thousands of med students, mapped to the standard resources, and free. That asset took a decade to build and no competitor can copy it. If your job is drilling the canon, you use the deck, and the deck lives in Anki.
The honest costs. The interface is dated and the setup curve is real, ease factors, deck options, and add-ons are a weekend project during a semester with no spare weekends. And out of the box Anki still defaults to SM-2 scheduling; FSRS is there but opt-in, so turn it on, because at your volume the review savings are not optional. Best for your own lectures and weak spots: Imprimo
Here is where I declare interest again: this is my app, and this is the job I built it for.
