Editorial policy

The Imprimo blog is written by Imdad Ismail, who builds Imprimo, an iPhone flashcard app. Many posts compare apps that compete with mine. This page explains how posts are researched, how that bias is handled, and how to report a mistake.

Who writes the posts

Every post is published under my name, and I review it before it goes live.

How posts are researched

Facts about other apps, such as prices, platforms, features, and privacy terms, come from each app's own website, help center, privacy notice, or App Store and Google Play listings. Posts link to those sources next to the claim and say when they were checked. Prices are US prices unless a post says otherwise, and they change, so check the app before you pay. Claims about how memory works link to published research where it exists. Where a number is my own rule of thumb, the post says so.

Writing about apps that compete with Imprimo

I build Imprimo, so I'm not neutral about flashcard apps. Every post that compares or recommends apps says so near the top and again wherever it recommends Imprimo. I say where other apps do better than mine, and I don't describe features of another app unless its own site or listing confirms them.

Updates and corrections

Each post shows the date it was published. When a post changes in a way that matters, it also shows the date of the update and a short note on what changed. If you spot a mistake, email hello@imprimo.app with the page and what's wrong. I check the claim against its source and correct the post if it's wrong.

Sponsored posts

No app pays to appear in a post today. If a post ever includes a paid placement, it will be labeled as sponsored at the top, its links will be marked as sponsored for search engines, and the review will still say what I actually think. A sponsor can't buy a positive verdict or a link that helps its search ranking.
